HISTORY back to top^
  • FBCWR was born in July of 1990 with a small group of believers who wanted to start a biblical, relevant and contemporary church in the vicinity of the White Rock Lake area of Dallas. The church met in a home for a year, then moved to Harry Stone Park, a Dallas Recreation Center.
  • The church met in a couple of other locations before moving into our current location at 10163 Shoreview Road in 2001. Click here for directions.
MISSION back to top^

The mission of FBCWR is to help connect people to God. There are 3 basic steps to this process -

  1. Make a connection to God through faith in Christ.
  2. Develop that connection through learning more about God through His Word and the input of others who are active in the faith journey.
  3. Spread the connection with God to others through sharing our faith and using our God given gifts to help others.

Our mission is based on Christ's Great Commission to the church in Matthew 28:19-20: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

CORE VALUES back to top^

1) Dependence on Christ - We believe the Christian life can only be lived by the indwelling Lord Jesus Christ living through the believer. We stress dependence on Him for growth in righteousness and the experience of God’s love, peace and joy.

2) Contemporary Style - We carry out our mission by applying timeless biblical principles of church life through a contemporary style. We spread God's Word with methods that are culturally sensitive and innovative with the goal of winning as many as possible to Christ.

3) Small Group Emphasis - We believe that Christian maturity is possible only with the support and guidance of other Christians. So we strongly encourage each attendee to commit to a "mini-church" group. These small groups are designed for deeper relationships, comfort and challenge, and for the use of the spiritual gifts of each of the members. We also have specialized small groups - the Men's Group and various types of Women's Groups including Bible Studies, support groups and 12 step groups.

4) Family First - We believe each believer must prioritize their home life, so we encourage and equip members and require leaders to make their home their primary ministry.

5) Active Involvement of Members - We believe in the giftedness of every individual in the church and we seek to provide training and opportunity for the exercise of each person's spiritual gifts.

6) Teach the whole counsel of God - We believe as Paul emphasized in Acts 19 that the teaching of God's Word should be balanced. Favorite doctrines or portions of the scriptures which may have popular appeal are not emphasized at the expense of all that God has said in His Word about an issue.

WHAT WE BELIEVE back to top^

The Bible - We believe that God so inspired the writers of the Bible so that each word in the original manuscripts is without error, and the doctrinal and moral teachings in the Bible are mankind's highest authority of truth.

The Trinity - We believe in one, eternal God, existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, whom are equal in essence, power and glory.

Man - We believe that apart from Christ, all people have fallen into sin in deed and nature, and are therefore separated from God and deserving of eternal punishment.

Jesus Christ - We believe in Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of the Father, conceived in a virgin by the Holy Spirit. Christ was fully God and fully man. He made atonement for the sins of the world by His substitutionary death on the cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven and His personal, physical return to the earth.

Salvation - We believe that salvation from eternal punishment is given freely by God on the sole condition of faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ, who is the only mediator between God and man.

The Holy Spirit - We believe in the Holy Spirit who regenerates and sanctifies those who believe in Jesus Christ.

The Church - We believe the church is formed by the Holy Spirit who joins those who have trusted in Christ for salvation to all other believers and to Christ Himself. We believe in the unity of the church and reject the teaching of minor or controversial doctrines in a divisive manner.
